Men's Soccer Opens Exhibition Season Against Familiar Foe

SPRINGFIELD, IL - The Prairie Stars men's soccer team will open up the exhibition season on Wednesday, August 28th against the "Beavers" of Blackburn College at Kiwanis Stadium.  Kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m.

But this time, Blackburn is being coached by someone who knows where every sprinkler head and dip is in the field.  As a matter of fact, he helped lay the sod on the stadium pitch over 30 years ago. -more-

UIS Volleyball Looks To Leave Lasting Mark

The chance to go to the NAIA National Tournament.
The chance to do something that no other volleyball team at UIS has ever done.
That’s what the UIS women’s volleyball team is trying to do in their last season as an NAIA institution. -more-

Volleyball 2008 Schedule Released

The UIS volleyball team will have a new look this season as it has seven new faces joining this year’s roster. No one, however, will get to see that new look for a while.

Unlike last season when the Prairie Stars were breaking in their new athletic arena with a lot of early-season home matches. This year’s schedule is bottom heavy – meaning UIS will be on the road for the first month of the season. -more-

Volleyball Earns AVCA Academic Award

SPRINGFIELD, IL - The 2007-08 Prairie Stars women's volleyball team was recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) as one of 22 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) institutions earning the AVCA Team Academic Award.  The award honors volleyball programs that displayed excellence in the classroom by maintaining a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point-average on a 4.0 scale. -more-
