ORUCHE EARNS GLVC POSTSEASON HONOR

INDIANAPOLIS – UIS’ Richard Oruche has been named second team All-Great Lakes Valley Conference it was announced by the league today.

Oruche, a senior from Bensonville, Ill., led the Prairie Stars in scoring (19.8 points per game) and rebounding (5.8 rebounds per game) during the 2009-10 campaign. He is currently third in the league in scoring and 10th in rebounding and is one of four players in the conference to be ranked in the top 10 in both categories.

Oruche is the first UIS student-athlete to earn postseason accolades from the GLVC. He was also the first Prairie Star student-athlete to earn the league’s Player of the Week award when he took home the honor in December.

UIS finished its first season as a member of NCAA Division II and the GLVC with an 11-13 overall record and a 7-11 slate in the league. UIS will host the GLVC Tournament next weekend at TRAC.
